GBAPS Announces John Magas as Associate Superintendent of Continuous Improvement

John MagasThe Green Bay Area Public School District is pleased to announce that John Magas has accepted the position of Associate Superintendent of Continuous Improvement, starting July 1. Magas previously served in the Sun Prairie Area School District, where he was the Director of Secondary Teaching, Learning and Equity.

With 20-plus years in education, Magas brings extensive experience to the District leadership team having served as an educator, principal, English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor, and in his current role responsible for curriculum, professional learning communities, ESL services, AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) and at-risk education. Prior to serving in Sun Prairie, Magas was a middle school principal in the Appleton Area School District for nine years, and an associate principal for a charter school for highly gifted students. He has also served as an administrator and ESL, Reading, English and Spanish teacher in Washington state.

“John Magas will be a great addition to our leadership team,” stated Superintendent Michelle Langenfeld. “His passion for serving all students; experience leading important school district priorities; and his proven success in communicating with students, families and community members both in English and Spanish were all important factors in our decision. In addition, John’s past experience using data to impact student achievement, will be important as the District continues to fulfill its mission of educating all students to be college, career and community ready.”
