District Hosts Successful Academic Competition for 500 Local Students

On April 12, the Green Bay Area Public School District hosted an academic competition at West High School. Nearly 500 students from 14 Northeast Wisconsin schools participated in the event that was led by the District’s Gifted & Talented Department. Students competed in one of four subject areas with questions written by University of Wisconsin – Green Bay professors and other area educators. In addition to objective questions, English teams also competed in an impromptu essay event. The competition results are as follows:

English Language Arts

3rd Place – Green Bay East coached by Suzi Carlson

4th Place – Bay Port “A” coached by Janelle Bailey

For the impromptu essay event, the following students won awards for achieving perfect scores: Kathryn Nohr (Bay Port), and Alden Hunt (De Pere).
