District Receives School Counseling Grant

Recently the Green Bay Area Public School District was awarded the Elementary and Secondary School Counseling Program Grant from the U.S. Department of Education. This grant will serve to build our comprehensive school counseling programs at all levels and support school counseling staffing and additional programming at the elementary level. Focus on elementary is encouraged by the Department of Education as this is the area of most concern nationwide.

The District will receive over 1.1 million dollars over the next three years. Funding averages about $370,000 each year.

As part of the grant process the District needed to identify the schools with the highest need based on state academic performance, behavior referrals, economics and transiency. The following schools will be receiving additional funding from the grant for staffing and will be provided opportunities for building training over the next three years in specific areas identified in the grant. Targeted schools include Baird, Eisenhower, Elmore, Fort Howard, Howe, Jefferson, Lincoln, Nicolet, and Tank.
