District students compete in FBLA State competition

On April 13 and 14, students from the Green Bay Area Public School District attended the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State competition hosted in La Crosse, WI. FBLA is a national student organization that helps a quarter-million students prepare for careers in business and business-related fields. Students from Green Bay East, West, Southwest and Preble attended the competition, and had tremendous performances throughout. The results are as follows:

East High School: Eight East students attended the State competition, and a school-record seven students qualified for the National competition in Chicago this summer.

State Champions:

  • Carissa Langenhuizen and Megan Morris – 1st place in Web Site Design
  • Nathaniel Larkin and Tayler Wypishinski-Prechter – 1st place in Mobile Application Development

Top 5 State finishers:

  • Carrigan Kneiss – 4th place in Spreadsheet Applications
  • Calvin Kanzenbach – 4th place in Public Speaking II

Testing event National qualifiers:

  • Jacob Thomas – 3rd place in Computer Applications
  • Kaitlyn Holzer – 4th place in Business Communications
  • Nathan Kohls – 4th place in Cyber security

 

Preble High School: Preble had 20 FBLA students qualify for the State competition, all of which turned in great performances.

Top 5 State finishers:

  • Elizabeth Keiler – 2nd in Client Services and qualified for the National Leadership Conference
  • Haley Siegworth and Paige Wimberly – 4th in Desktop Publishing

Top 10 State finishers:

  • Riley Vandenplas and Ethan Vandenplas – 7th in Public Service Announcement
  • Morgan Jindra, Madeline Neumeier, Heidi Overeem, Brooklyn Robertson, and Brooke Wimberly – 9th in Parliamentary Procedure

 

Southwest High School: Southwest had six students qualify for the FBLA State competition and had a great turnout from their FBLA students.

Top 5 State finishers:

  • Ally Gerczak, Jacob Gussert, Madysen LeRoy – 2nd in Banking and Financial Systems
  • Cassie Pribyl – 4th in Accounting I
  • Devin Vincent – 5th in Cyber Security

Top 10 State finishers:

  • Andrew Stieber – 7th in Impromptu Speaking
