2014 Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Scholarship Recipients

The Green Bay Area Public School District is proud to announce that three district students have been named 2014 recipients of Herb Kohl Educational Foundation scholarships:

Joshua Krueger of West High School was named an Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Excellence Scholar
Alex Meyer of Southwest High School was named an Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Excellence Scholar
Ivonne Martin of East High School was named an Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Initiative Scholar

To receive an Excellence Scholarship, recipients must demonstrate excellence in the academic arena and high motivation to achieve, display a broad range of activity and leadership outside the academic setting, and show strong promise for succeeding in college and beyond. Excellence Scholarship recipients are selected by a statewide committee of civic leaders and representatives of education-related associations and program sponsors.

Initiative Scholarship recipients are chosen by their schools, and must demonstrate exceptional initiative in the classroom, show strong promise for succeeding in college and beyond, and have not yet received other academic-based scholarships.

This year, $1,000 awards were given to 100 teachers, their schools, and 187 graduating high school seniors in Wisconsin. The recognition luncheon for district recipients will take place at Red Smith School on Sunday, April 6 at 12:30 p.m.

The Kohl Foundation Scholarship and Fellowship program was established by Herb Kohl, U.S. Senator (Retired) in 1990.
