Green Bay Area Public School District, NWTC & NEW Manufacturing Alliance to Develop “Bay Link Manufacturing”

Bay-Link-Manufacturing-Logo-FinalThe Green Bay Area Public School District in partnership with Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) and the NEW Manufacturing Alliance is proud to announce the development of Bay Link Manufacturing, a high-precision manufacturing learning lab designed to provide high school students with real-world experience in manufacturing, engineering, marketing and business careers. Bay Link Manufacturing will be located in West High School, and will open in October of 2014.

High school juniors and seniors enrolled in Bay Link Manufacturing will collaborate with NWTC students and manufacturing mentors to complete projects for local companies in the areas of industrial welding, machine fabrication and metals. Students will also design the marketing and business systems necessary to sustain a successful manufacturing business.

A recent study by the NEW Manufacturing Alliance found that 60 percent of manufacturers believe they will have difficulty finding talent for their company. The introduction of Bay Link Manufacturing into the Green Bay community will do its part to engage youth to support the labor force needs of local manufacturers, and to ensure a vibrant economy in northeast Wisconsin.

The district is proud to partner with NWTC and the NEW Manufacturing Alliance to provide this special opportunity for area students!
