Southwest High School to Receive “Brighter Image Award” Oct. 30

Congratulations to Southwest High School Principal Rod Bohm and Southwest teachers Ryan Freude and Pat Vanlieshout, who will receive the Brighter Image Award from the NEW Manufacturing Alliance at the 2013 Excellence in Manufacturing/Education K-12 Partnership Awards on Wednesday, October 30. The Brighter Image Award recognizes a school that has created a positive image of manufacturing careers for students.

Southwest High School provides students opportunities to pursue manufacturing careers in several ways, including an educational partnership with Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC). This partnership offers courses such as NWTC Industrial Welding, Metal Fabrication, Blueprint Reading I & II, and Introduction to Robotics.

The 2013 Excellence in Manufacturing/Education Partnership Awards will take place on October 30 at the KI Convention Center from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The NEW Manufacturing Alliance is a group of manufacturers, working with educational institutions, workforce development boards, chambers of commerce and state organizations to promote manufacturing in the Northeast Wisconsin region.
