East High School Sophomore Finishes Second at National FBLA Competition

Andrew PflugerAndrew Pfluger, a sophomore at East High School, recently placed second in the nation in the E-business event at the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, Calif. As a national runner-up, Pfluger received a trophy and a $500 monetary award. Pfluger’s achievement marks the highest finish of any East High School student who has made it to FBLA nationals. The best finish prior to this year’s event was sixth place.

On his way to earning this honor, Pfluger competed against nearly 50 other students from all over the country. Before reaching the national competition, Pfluger earned first place honors at both regionals in February and the state competition in April.

FBLA is an education association that helps students prepare for careers in business and business-related fields. As part of East High School’s chapter of FBLA, Pfluger and fellow students manage a real investment portfolio currently valued at over $12,000. The organization has also given away over $2,000 in grants to local charitable organizations.
