East High School Student Takes 2nd Place at the 10th Annual Wisconsin Chinese Language Speech Contest

013_copy9For many students in Wisconsin, reciting a speech of their own composition for two minutes entirely in Mandarin Chinese would be nearly impossible. For the seven Green Bay Area Public School District students that competed in the 10th Annual Wisconsin Chinese Language Speech Contest however, this task was a welcome challenge. On Saturday, February 23, students enrolled in Mandarin 1 from East, West, and Preble high schools traveled to UW – Milwaukee to participate in the annual contest. Freshman Angel Moua of East High School returned from the competition with a silver medal, taking second place in the state. The rest of the participants placed as follows:
Angel Moua (East) – 2nd place
Rachel Whitstone (East) – Honorable Mention
Yeinchein Lee (East)
Jane Iken (Preble) – Honorable Mention
Alexis Tilot (Preble) – Honorable Mention
McKayla Stitz (Preble) – Honorable Mention
Phavath Duangsouvanh (West)
