Keller Elementary Named a Wisconsin Title I Reward School

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction recently named Keller Elementary a high-progress Wisconsin Title I Reward School for 2012-13. Sixty-five Title I schools in the state received honors to recognize student academic achievement and academic progress. To be recognized, schools must receive Title I aid because they serve a significant number of students from low-income families based on federal free and reduced price school meal income guidelines. Reward schools must also have minimal achievement gaps on statewide assessments or show evidence of reducing gaps between student groups. Finally, they must also meet the state’s test participation, attendance, and dropout goals.

Wisconsin Title I Reward Schools received a certificate of achievement signed by the state superintendent. In September 2012, Keller was also named a Wisconsin School of Recognition by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. To be named a school of recognition, Keller had to demonstrate success in education students from low-income families.
