Green Bay Area Public High Schools Shine at FBLA Regional Competition

On February 2, students from the four Green Bay Area Public School District high schools competed with other schools in the area at the FBLA regional competition held at Two Rivers High School. FBLA is an education association that helps a quarter million students prepare for careers in business and business-related fields. Students that finished in the top three at the regional competition will advance to state competition in April.

Preble High School
Preble FBLA had 57 students compete at the regional conference. The chapter placed 7th in the region with 34 members receiving awards for placing in the top five of their events.

State qualifiers:
Eddi Flores, Gage Meyer, and Tyler Wegter – 1st place in Banking and Financial Systems
Haley Siegworth and Paige Wimberly – 1st place in Desktop Publishing
Lizzie Keiler – 1st place in Introduction to Business
Anja Marshall and Haday Yang – 2nd place in Web Design
Sheridan Michaud, Sydney Onesti and Sofia Schabel – 3rd place in Business Presentation
Hailey Valentine – 3rd place in Client Service
Max Haase – 3rd place in Computer Problem Solving
Jessica Franco, Staci Kropp and Annie Robertson – 3rd place in Global Business
Mercedes Diaz-Gracida – 3rd place in Help Desk
Karyn Cmeyla, Lauren Miketinac, and Carly Ripp – 3rd place in Management Decision Making

The following students earned awards for finishing in the top 5 for their events:

Riley Burger – 4th place in Economics
Paige Orfield – 4th place in Business Math
Morgan Jindra, Madeline Neumeier, Heidi Overeem, Brooklyn Robertson, and Brook Wimberley – 4th place in Parliamentary Procedure
Luis Franco, Nick Freitag, and Abbie Peters – 5th place in Business Ethics
Jordan Baierl – 5th place in Business Law
Jamie Musial, Nicole Musial, and Abigail Wendt – 5th place in Digital Design and Promotion

Southwest High School

The following students earned awards for finishing in the top 5 for their events:

Mitch Reed, Nick Meert, and Bryan Tomaszewski – 4th place for Digital Video Production
Peter Meikle and Brett Stout-Rojas – 5th place in E-Business

West High School

State qualifiers:
Melissa Shefchek and Ashley Zeutzius – 3rd place in Desktop Publishing

East High School
East FBLA had every student place in the top 10, and nine students qualified for the state competition by finishing in the top three for their event.

State qualifiers:
Steve Bors – 3rd place in Sports Management
Jared Hernandez – 2nd place in Sports Management
Nick VanMatre – 2nd place in Computer Applications
Jacob Thomas – 2nd place in Computer Problem Solving
Carissa Langenhuizen, Megan Morris, Dustin Mellberg – 1st place in Web Site Development
Andrew Pfluger – 1st in E-Business
Brooke Radey – 1st place in Spreadsheets

The following students earned awards for finishing in the top 5 for their event:

Troy LeCaire – Cole Herman, Landon Renard – 5th place in Digital Video Production
Kaitlyn Holzer – 4th place in Accounting
Katie Fineout and Michelle Mendoza – 4th place in Global Business
