Friday 5: Elementary Spanish Immersion

The district currently offers Spanish immersion, or dual language, at three elementary schools – Danz, Wilder and Jackson. Starting in kindergarten, both native English and Spanish speaking students start learning in 80 percent Spanish, 20 percent English. As students move up through the grades, the ratio moves to a 50:50 ratio. Programs like this help prepare our students for a global society. We visited Danz Elementary, which has had the program for almost a decade, to find out more. Check out the third grade student in the beginning of the video!
