All Means All: Patrick Briggs to Speak on College Readiness September 10

Patrick Briggs, Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) State Director in Texas will speak in the Washington Middle School auditorium on Monday, September 10 at 7:00 p.m. Briggs is a nationally recognized speaker on the achievement gap, or what he calls the “opportunity and expectation” gap that results in students of color and poverty being less successful in school than their white middle class classmates. In addition to the evening presentation, Briggs will speak to students at Edison Middle School, 442 Alpine Drive, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:20 a.m., at Washington Middle School, 314 South Baird Street, from 12:15 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., and Preble High School, 2222 Deckner Ave., from 2:07 p.m. to 2:58 p.m.

Briggs’ mantra is “all means all,” and his passion lies in helping all learners achieve at high levels so all students are college, career and community ready upon completion of high school. The evening event at Washington Middle School is free and open to the public.
