During the past few weeks, community members have come together to support a movement to save the iconic log cabin located outside of Fort Howard Elementary from demolition. On August 20 and 21, retired Fort Howard teacher Chuck Hatfield and project manager James Hayward will be at the site to take the cabin apart, log by log. Volunteers are needed to help with disassembly.

The restoration project will continue through August, and half of September. Community members interested in helping save the cabin can contact Amanda Brooker, manager of school and community relations at 448-2025 or aebrooker@gbaps.org for more information. In addition to a monetary donation, supplies and labor are also needed. Checks can be made payable to the Green Bay Area Public School District, with attention to School Community Relations. To make a credit card donation via phone, call the district office at 448-2210 during work hours.
