Green Bay International Baccalaureate Programmes to Hold Open Houses

Chappell Elementary School, Franklin Middle School, and West High School to showcase area’s first public IB elementary and middle school programs, prestigious IBDP at the high school

The size of the Green Bay Area Public School District allows many choice options for parents. During the month of January and February, families interested in the opportunities provided through an International Baccalaureate education can visit district schools to get a first-hand experience of a rigorous, global education.

The district is the first in the area to pursue a K-12 International Baccalaureate (IB) experience for its students. Known for its rigor and global perspective, the IB Programme is respected and recognized around the world.

  • International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme at Chappell Elementary School (205 North Fisk Street, 492-2630) – An International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) candidate school, Chappell offers students a global education in a technology-rich environment. IB aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. As part of the program, students will also be taught Spanish. Tours will run at 9:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 12; Thursday, January 19; Tuesday, February 7; and Wednesday, February 22; or by appointment.
  • International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme at Franklin Middle School (1233 Lore Lane, 492-2670) –  As an International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) candidate school, Franklin Middle School provides students with a unique, rigorous education, wrapped in global awareness and authentic learning opportunities. Students successful in the completion of the MYP are well prepared for high school, advanced course work, and have a solid foundation for post-secondary education.  The open house will be held on Thursday, January 26 with the following flexible schedule: presentations at 4:00-4:30 p.m. and 5:30-6:00 p.m., tours at 4:40-5:00 p.m. and 6:00-6:30 p.m.  Tours are also available by appointment.
  •  International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at West High School (966 Shawano Avenue, 492-2600) – An authorized International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme School, juniors and seniors take part in a rigorous education while earning college credit. Students can take individual International Baccalaureate courses or participate in the full Diploma Programme. Students must be enrolled at West to be part of the IB Diploma Programme. Green Bay high school juniors and seniors can take individual classes. The open house will be held Thursday, January 26 with the following flexible schedule: presentation 4:30-5:00 p.m. and 5:30-6:00 p.m., tour at 5:00-5:30 p.m. Tours are also available by appointment.
