Call to Action: Speak up about public education in Green Bay

Over the past year, there has been discussion in the legislature about graduation and dropout rates in public education. The Green Bay Area Public School District has been working on these issues, but has recently been criticized publicly and politically during the school choice expansion legislation.

State Representative Chad Weininger is hosting an education forum from 3:30-5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 21 at UW-Green Bay’s Christie Theater (2420 Nicolet Drive) to examine educational policies and programs focused on youth at-risk of not graduating. The goal is to generate ideas and discussion that could lead to legislation to help increase the graduation rates for those at-risk students.

Please come to the event to hear legislators’ concerns, submit questions, and share what measures the district has taken to address these concerns over the years. Superintendent Michelle Langenfeld and Board Member Celestine Jeffreys will be on the panel in addition to the legislators on the education committee and others.

Our legislators need to hear the positive work we are doing for the community’s kids. If you can make the 3:30 p.m. forum on Monday, there will be a chance to provide written input.
