Donart named Preble Football Coach

Long time Preble Assistant Paul Donart, was named the Varsity Head Football Coach at Green Bay Preble High School today. 

Paul Donart becomes the third Head Football Coach in the history of the Preble football program.  Pat Prochnow who recently retired had been the head coach since 1986 and Bill Dessart was the first head coach for Preble starting in 1955.

Donart received his bachelor’s degree from UW-Oshkosh in 1990 and his Master of  Science degree from Lesley University in 2001.

Donart is a Green Bay native having graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1985.  Donart was a stand-out football player at Green Bay West having played on the undefeated conference championship football team in 1984.  Donart’s achievements include second team all conference as well as second team all metro in football while attending Green Bay West.  Donart went on to play football at UW-Oshkosh where he was a four year letter winner and selected honorable mention all WSUC in the conference.

Donart was the defensive secondary football coach at St. Norbert College from 1990-1993.  Donart has served on the Preble football staff since 1994.  Donart also was an assistant track coach at Green Bay West from 1990-1992 and has served on the Preble track staff from 1993 until the present time. 

Donart has been a teacher in the Green Bay School District since 1991.  In 1994 Donart joined the staff as an instructor of physical education at Preble High School.  Donart was named the Department Chair for the upcoming year in the physical education department at Green Bay Preble. 

Donart is a member of the Wisconsin High School Football Coaches Association as well as a member of the Wisconsin Pole Vault Coaches Association.

“Paul has many of the characteristics and principles one looks for in a head coach”, said Dan Retzki, Associate Principal/Activities Director for Green Bay Preble High School.  “Paul has character, integrity, and passion for not only the sport of football, but the student-athletes he leads. It is Paul’s turn to carry on the great football tradition at Preble High School.”
