Meet Superintendent Finalist Michelle Langenfeld Wednesday Night

The general public has the opportunity to meet superintendent finalist Michelle Langenfeld from 3:00-4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8 in the District Office Board Room, 200 South Broadway.

Michelle Langenfeld – Associate Superintendent of the Anoka-Hennepin School District, Anoka, Minn.

Dr. Michelle Langenfeld is the Associate Superintendent for the Anoka Hennepin School District, serving approximately 40,000 students in Minnesota. She is responsible for leading and providing oversight for six middle schools, five transitional and special needs programs, the departments of Special Education and Student Services, K12 Program Evaluation, Magnet/Specialty Schools, Integration Revenue, English as a Second Language, and the Faith-Based Community Partnership.  In addition, she supports a number of district-wide K12 programs and/or participates on various district and community committees. 

As a middle school principal, Standard and Poors and NBC Nightly News recognized Langenfeld’s school nationally for significantly closing the achievement gap. Dr. Langenfeld has taught both middle and high school in suburban and urban settings. Her research, publications, and state and national presentations have focused on: Leadership, Understanding Backward Design, Teacher Evaluation, Students on the Margins, Culturally Responsive Classrooms, and Facilitating Student Learning. She also serves as adjunct professor at Bethel University, teaching online courses in Curriculum and Instruction to doctoral students. Prior to becoming an educator, Langenfeld was a legislative analyst, lobbyist, and business manager.

Dr. Langenfeld received her master’s and doctorate in Educational Policy and Administration from the University of Minnesota. She and her husband David have two grown sons who reside in Illinois.
