Superintendents’ Friendly Super Bowl Wager a Winner for Kids

Super Bowl Sunday will have more than the Lombardi Trophy on the line. Green Bay Area Public School District Superintendent Dr. Greg Maass and Pittsburgh Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Linda Lane have a friendly wager that benefits their community’s kids.

When the Packers win, Superintendent Lane has agreed to make a $100 donation to School Spirit, the Green Bay Area Public School District’s educational endowment. School Spirit awards mini-grants to district staff three times a year to provide innovative educational opportunities outside of the district budget. Additionally, Dr. Lane has agreed to wear a Packers jersey for a day.

If for some unforeseen reason the Packers lose, Dr. Maass has agreed to make a $100 donation to The Pittsburgh Promise®, which helps students in Pittsburgh schools prepare, plan, and pay for education beyond high school at an accredited post-secondary institution within Pennsylvania. Dr. Maass has also agreed to wear a Steelers jersey for a day.

Community members wishing to match Dr. Lane’s donation on Monday may do so online at www.gbschoolspirit.org. Click on “Donate Online” at the top of the page.
