East HS Mock Trial Takes 6th Place in International Competition

The East High School Mock Trial team recently competed in the Empire Mock Trial Invitational in New York City against 30 teams from around the world. The Brooklyn Eagle reports that more than 400 students and 300 volunteer attorneys will participate in this competition. The Red Devils placed 6th, beating teams from South Carolina, the defending champions from Ireland, and Connecticut. The team was one ballot away from beating a team from Chattanooga, Tennessee, which would have put them in the championship round.

Last year the East Mock Trial team took 4th at State, and 1st in Regionals. Competing in the Empire Mock Trial Invitational were Nick Bauman-Martin, Jacob Brunette, Brady DeGroot, Nikki Fulfer, Ned LeFevre, Katherine Greatens, Riley Pazdera, Candice Powell, Mia Richards, Adam VanMatre, and Corey Warren. The team is coached by East teacher Bob Howman.
